Overcoming Trauma
COVID-19 has taken a toll on everybody’s mental health, with young people especially hard hit, according to a report issued in December by the U.S. surgeon general. REBOOT Recovery recognized this reality in April 2020, extending its Crisis Edition video series free of charge to the general public.
REBOOT has long helped veterans, first responders, and their families overcome trauma. The organization is expanding its faith-based programming in Montana through churches, as a first line of defense before mental illness becomes debilitating.
Becky Boone and her husband have led several REBOOT programs for vets, first responders, and others through Venture Church in Bozeman. “We took the REBOOT courses before leading them,” she says. “He struggles with PTSD and was amazed at the recovery he experienced through the military/combat program.”
Boone adds, “Every single person has been affected by COVID. You don’t have to be a believer to join the program.”
More information is at REBOOT Recovery or through their regional outreach coordinator. Montana churches that want to start a REBOOT program may also apply for grants from the Gianforte Family Foundation.
