Innovation Brings Results
Nonprofit Communio is tackling our country’s family and faith crisis by helping churches build healthy marriages and relationships. The organization helped decrease divorce rates by 24 percent in Jacksonville, Florida, before piloting a Montana program in 2019 and then continuing to expand throughout the state. The results?
• Billings’ Harvest Church offers a suite of marriage programs and is uniting couples through Grand Wedding ceremonies.
• More than 100 people attended Communio’s Relational Health Series at Lockwood’s Chapel of Hope.
• Communio is working with the Catholic Diocese in Helena to offer parishes a Full Circle Relationship Ministry.
• Recently, Evangelical churches in Helena and Missoula offered Communio’s Adventures in Marriage program and the Cathedral of St. Helena hosted 36 couples for the skills-based, Alpha Marriage Course.
The organization was recently awarded the Innovation Prize from the Heritage Foundation for its leadership and creativity in promoting principles that strengthen American society and its partnership with Hampton University to advance the National Center for Black Family Life.
By identifying issues and offering solutions, Communio is helping congregations strengthen families, and ultimately, communities. According to Communio President J.P. De Gance, “Communio is uniquely positioned to serve churches with both data analytics and proven strategies for relationship ministry treating the root of our most pressing social issues.”
